minkhollow: (live long and prosper)
First order of business: Quinn and I are considering running a Warehouse 13 prompt fest. Watch this space!

Second order of business: We finally watched the last three episodes of S4 over the holiday weekend. Quinn got drunk for it; I stayed sober (more because I don't like the taste of alcohol than anything else).
SO THAT HAPPENED. You don't want to read this if you're still dodging spoilers. )
minkhollow: (two generations of win)
The kind of question I ask at 1:30 AM:

Hey, Warehouse 13 types. I think we've finally outgrown Yuletide, and I know some of y'all got it into Not Prime Time, but I was wondering: Would there be any interest in a W13-specific fic exchange? Not necessarily concurrent with the holiday season, but.

It's one of my favorite giftfic fandoms, and I don't want to lose that. That and it'd give people room to request whatever minor characters/previous-Warehouse backstory they might desperately want to see but can't squeeze into a bigger exchange. I'd be happy to help run the thing, but I'm not going in alone.

:D?

(In other news, finally boarding the Night Vale train. Quite entertaining.)
minkhollow: W13: Claudia playing guitar (doesn't remind us of musetta's waltz)
SO, CONNECTICON.

Most of what Quinn and I ended up doing was wandering around looking at other people's cosplay. that was quite a lot of fun in itself, though! Some win: Femme!Sam and Dean (in line while we were waiting to register; I pegged it when Dean flipped open her prop shotgun); Jecht and several Aurons (didn't see a Braska, though); Yuna; X2-flavor Rikku; BLU Medic; lots of TF2, actually; Rincewind and Twoflower, with Luggage; THE TINIEST R2-D2; Coraline's Other Mother staffing a t-shirt booth. (She offered Quinn button eyes, Quinn said they were probably an Artifact, she squeed and asked us for a photo.)

Win we got photos of/with: A gaggle of revolutionaries (they were handing out flyers); Moist and Spike, who we're 99% sure were Rincewind and Twoflower on Friday; Red and Snow.

I went to Neil Grayston's Q&A panel on Friday, which was small but mighty. And he said he would be back on Warehouse 13 (he knows the plan and everything)... IF THEY HAD MORE THAN SIX EPISODES. CURSES. He did also say he'd try to pester the writers into releasing the unfilmed scripts when all's said and done.

After that was the signing booth, and the highlight of my weekend: I strolled up to the table and went "Doug! Long time no see! How you been, buddy?" and he rolled with it. :D :D :D Secondary highlight was him following up with 'actually, I think I saw you around when I was eating lunch.'

So I'm just gonna leave this right here.

Actually, this has nothing to do with bunnies. But I do have a theory. Warehouse 13 S4.5 spoilers to follow.
in which I make some wild guesses )
No clue if I'll be right, but the pieces just... clicked into place in my head a few minutes ago. So there you go.

a story from the other night )
Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Leave prompts here if you're so inclined and I'll drop you a couple sentences or so of fic.
the Twitter-side prompts )
minkhollow: (fear is never boring)
ohhhhhhhhh my god tonight's Warehouse 13. I have SO MANY FEELS. (And I will cheerfully discuss them in the comments; 'ware spoilers.)
Also, does anyone know what next week's episode is supposed to be about?
minkhollow: (here at the end of all things)
This plot was the best idea ever. (So was convincing Quinn she'd like Warehouse 13 after all. It only took me four years! Speaking of, dear back half of the season: Please be awesome. ALSO HOW IS [GUEST STAR] I DO NOT EVEN.)
Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Leave a prompt here if you're so inclined.
in which I was only on Twitter this week )
minkhollow: (here at the end of all things)
Cool things:
[community profile] queer_fest prompt claiming is open! I've already got a couple (I, uh, may have one of the stories done already). But go forth, grab prompts, write stories!
Challenge Accepted, in which you can level up D&D-style for doing the stuff you need to do anyway.

Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Leave me prompts here if you like, and I'll write you a short little thing. Or a longer thing if inspiration strikes.
in which I forget about the cut tag, oops )
minkhollow: (here at the end of all things)
Man, this week has not been my friend. I think the time change, allergies and Vikings ganged up on me. (But on the bright side, QUINN IS BACK IN MILLIWAYS. :D)
Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Or... Saturday. Whatevs.
I *did* actually write some of these on Friday! But my brain was pretty fried yesterday. )
minkhollow: (what is this i don't even)
Brought to you by this week's helping of Cold Case feels: Now I want the fic where HG hears about the '38 War of the Worlds broadcast and wonders why no one seems to've read her bloody book with that plot.
Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Same deal as last week; leave prompts here if you're so inclined and I'll answer them.
the Twitter side of things )
minkhollow: (two generations of win)
Fandom opinion of uncertain popularity: I'm not sure Once Upon a Time has it in it to be more than a three-season show without getting horribly bloated. There are only so many stories and only so many ways to tell them without disregarding everyone else, and sooner or later they'll have to have whatever the final battle's going to be. I'd rather see the show go out on a high note than wonder why it's still going far past when it should have stopped.
(I'm caught up now, at least until Sunday. That was the second least surprising reveal they've done so far - Queen of Hearts takes the full Least Surprising title. But I do like that there weren't easy answers for anyone, and Charming trying to untangle poor Henry's family tree was hilarious.)

Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Now with optional commentfic edition (snagging guidelines from [personal profile] ladyoflorien): leave prompts in the comment section for fics you'd like me to write; they can be anything, anything at all! If you're participating as well, link me to the post where you're accepting prompts so I can return the favor. Since there is no 140 character limit here, the technical limit is whatever will fit in a comment. Prompts will be answered with a fic at least two sentences long, if not longer.
and now, the Twitter-side fills )
minkhollow: (end *all* the worlds?)
Has it seriously been a year since the Allpocalypse? Damn, son.
I've officially gotten [personal profile] quinby into Warehouse 13, and I think it's going to bear fruit come the next app cycle. :D :D :D
Meanwhile, belated Fic Friday! Unofficial theme of horses.
because I was erring on the side of lazy yesterday )
minkhollow: (two generations of win)
This crossover was the best idea ever. Even though it gives me all the feels (soundtrack included - and yes, of course it has a soundtrack). Relatedly: Would anyone be interested in betaing a Cold Case/Warehouse 13 crossover when I've got it done? My usual W13 beta doesn't know Cold Case well enough to carry the weight, so. (I also need to figure out how to share said soundtrack.)
Venturing into Freelance Land of late; it's slow going at the moment, but I did get a nibble yesterday. Oddly, I'm finding it easier than regular job-hunting; go figure.
Meanwhile, Fic Friday!
small but awesome set, this week )
minkhollow: (two generations of win)
HEY GUYS, I FOUND NEMO. Who would've thought a clownfish would cause all this trouble? (Alternately: NOBODY IS SNOWING ON US.)
Short version: I'm really, really glad I found that snow shovel at CVS yesterday. We're gonna need to dig out the car.
Meanwhile, Fic Friday!
so what if I'm posting it on Saturday )
minkhollow: (end *all* the worlds?)
Achievement unlocked: Freelance profile! It still needs some sprucing up, but it's a step, and one I've been meaning to take for a while now. That'll help ease up some internal stress (largely my own).
We took an overnight vacation at the beginning of the week. It was great and we should do it again sometime... not in the middle of a winter storm, though. That part got old fast.
Meanwhile, Fic Friday! If anyone wants to leave a prompt here as well, go for it.
prompt partyyyy )
More as it develops!
minkhollow: (end *all* the worlds?)
My computer seems to've come down with the Toshiba Cooling Warning Plague. I think I sorted out the worst of the problem (at least, I can do my daily business without Becks crying wolf once a minute), but it's seriously annoying.
Also, a PSA on Quinn's behalf: Anyone out there know much about the pros/cons of IUDs as birth control?
Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Leave prompts here too if you want.
the Twitter set )
minkhollow: W13: Claudia playing guitar (doesn't remind us of musetta's waltz)
Not much to report this week. (Though I am considering finally writing the Cold Case/W13 crossover that's kicking around my head. If I do... it'll rip my heart out, just like Cold Case does. Right in the feels, every time.)
Meanwhile, Fic Friday!
less than last time, but )
Also, if anyone wants to leave a shortfic prompt here, go for it.
minkhollow: (live long and prosper)
Note to self: Fresh asparagus is amazeballs, not to mention an easy quick lunch to make once you do the bit with the rinsing and the breaking the stems. Might be worth keeping in mind. (For those wondering: Olive oil, dried garlic, cooking it up took two or three minutes, and then I put cheese on top. OM NOM NOM.)
--oh hey, while I'm here: Any US types know much about getting into freelancing? (Editing/proofreading, preferably.)
Meanwhile, Fic Friday!
allllll the Fic Friday this week! )
minkhollow: (here at the end of all things)
Now that [community profile] fandom_stocking's live, I can share what I wrote for it! I only managed a couple things; I think the amount I ended up writing for Yuletide fried my brain a little. But I wrote these:

When we're out of town (Once Upon a Time, G), in which Ruby and Belle plan a road trip, just in case they can ever actually take it.

The Business of Second Chances (Warehouse 13/Science RPF, G), in which Mrs. Frederic presents Alan Turing with a third option. (I don't generally do RPF at all, but the person's notes said they like Alan Turing in any setting, and... my brain wouldn't let it go. XD)

(And unrelated, but speaking of things my brain won't let go of: Will Always Find, also known as the Snow And Red Are Detectives AU. IT IS SO MUCH FUN and I'm plotting things with [personal profile] ashen_key for the first time in years and I know Who Done It now.)
