minkhollow: (leap of faith)
Oh hey, it's a meme. I'll take it on.

I currently have 146 works archived at AO3. Pick a number from 1 (the most recent) to 146 (the first* thing I posted there), and I'll tell you three things I currently like about it.

*'First' is relative, as I've backdated some things.
minkhollow: (here at the end of all things)
Cool things:
[community profile] queer_fest prompt claiming is open! I've already got a couple (I, uh, may have one of the stories done already). But go forth, grab prompts, write stories!
Challenge Accepted, in which you can level up D&D-style for doing the stuff you need to do anyway.

Meanwhile, Fic Friday! Leave me prompts here if you like, and I'll write you a short little thing. Or a longer thing if inspiration strikes.
in which I forget about the cut tag, oops )
minkhollow: (here at the end of all things)
Now that [community profile] fandom_stocking's live, I can share what I wrote for it! I only managed a couple things; I think the amount I ended up writing for Yuletide fried my brain a little. But I wrote these:

When we're out of town (Once Upon a Time, G), in which Ruby and Belle plan a road trip, just in case they can ever actually take it.

The Business of Second Chances (Warehouse 13/Science RPF, G), in which Mrs. Frederic presents Alan Turing with a third option. (I don't generally do RPF at all, but the person's notes said they like Alan Turing in any setting, and... my brain wouldn't let it go. XD)

(And unrelated, but speaking of things my brain won't let go of: Will Always Find, also known as the Snow And Red Are Detectives AU. IT IS SO MUCH FUN and I'm plotting things with [personal profile] ashen_key for the first time in years and I know Who Done It now.)
minkhollow: (end *all* the worlds?)
You know what this is?

MULTIFANDOM AU DRABBLE MEME

It's awesome, is what it is.
(I may have already written an OUaT detectives AU. I may be sorely tempted to continue that AU.)
minkhollow: W13: Rebecca/Jack snogging in the car (our love is a love'll not fade away)
Happy new year, everybody. And now, YULETIDE REVEALS. This year I wrote:

Equus ferus malus (Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), my assignment and exactly my favorite kind of fic to do: Working from scraps! My recip asked for Bad Horse backstory, and this is what came forth. (Annnnnd now I can go read "Equus malus" because apparently there's only one thing to call Bad Horse fic. XD)

A Word to the Wise (Warehouse 13), in which Rebecca and Jack investigate a mail deluge and Privilege Is Discussed. As best as you can discuss privilege in 1960, at least.

The Tragedy of Oswald, Prince of Volinar (Villains By Necessity); I had grand plans for a VBN treat, but what really wanted to be written was That Time Cata And Sam Mocked Not!Hamlet. ([personal profile] ceitfianna, I believe you can call in an 'I guessed it!' fic request.)

Time is the healer (but oh how it flies) (Warehouse 13), in which Claudia decides to treat HG like a grieving human being for a change rather than let her stew in her own juices.

Many, many thanks to [archiveofourown.org profile] wyomingnot for "Whistler's Coda"! It was wonderful.
Commentaries on my fics, as is tradition, will go up on [personal profile] afewsmallrepairs just as soon as I get around to posting them.
minkhollow: (here at the end of all things)
Front-half-of-the-alphabet Yuletide recs, this time!
in which there are many good things )
Aaaaand that's all, unless and until I poke at Madness!
minkhollow: (two generations of win)
It is YULETIDE REC TIME, people! Starting from the back of the alphabet because that gets me to Warehouse 13 faster.
(As for things I wrote: Four out of four recips very happy with their stories. Which makes me especially happy because - that awkward moment when stories go live and you see someone treated your recip with something very close to what you wrote them. Not that I blame the other writer; if it hadn't been my assignment I would've tackled it too. XD)
anyway, recs! )
minkhollow: Robert Redford pointing, from Sneakers (sometimes i don't understand myself)
CHECK OUT THIS AWESOMENESS, YOU GUYS.

Whistler's Coda, in which Whistler and Liz are the best people ever.

Also, the Standard Yuletide Challenge stands: Guess what I wrote and I'll write you a thing! I have four stories up this year, in three different fandoms.
minkhollow: (what is this i don't even)
I don't really have much to say about Friday, other than: There are several discussions that bear having. Can we, I dunno, have them now and not place all the blame on one factor or another?
Meanwhile, Yuletides-past meme! (Current: Assignment's posted; one potential treat is looking more and more like an NYR every day [I like what I want to tell but I think I've framed it wrong]; another is almost to the minimum and I need to get off my arse; haven't claimed any pinch hits but I've saved a couple.)
link *all* the fic? )
minkhollow: W13: Claudia playing guitar (doesn't remind us of musetta's waltz)
In conclusion, parents. What can you do? (What I can do: Take out my frustrations via fictional family dysfunction! This Christmas Carol plot business is the best idea ever.)

Other than that, I'm giving [community profile] fandom_stocking a try this year; my post is here.
minkhollow: (leap of faith)
LJ, LJ, LJ. Will you ever learn? There are new beta shenanigans afoot, and it's... well. I'll let it speak for itself. (Also, guess what they first rolled out in public on the Russian side of things?)
My favorite comment is from one of said Russian users (I love Chrome's translate button): "If this is your idea of a joke, you have a very poor sense of humor."
Given that, I think I'm going to stop crossposting to LJ effective November 30th. It's my 10th LJversary; there's something nicely symmetrical about that. Still trying to figure out what that means for lower_tadfield, but I'll consult the comm first, whatever it is.
In happier news, there wasn't much Fic Friday (now technically Fic Saturday, but whatevs), but it did happen!
Fic inna sentence! So fresh the... I dunno how to sustain this. )
minkhollow: W13: Rebecca/Jack snogging in the car (our love is a love'll not fade away)
Yes, thank you, Viking hordes, I really needed that when I had absolutely no materials for that cause with me.
But other than that, and... you know, the fact that I was traveling for the purpose of funeral services... this visit hasn't been too bad. My cousin said she could tell I'm happier now that I've moved.
and now, a picture )
And now, for something completely different: Operation Let's Build a Goddamn Tesla Museum. If this doesn't blow past the goal by the end of the first week I will be very surprised. (Also, they should sell the Tesla > Edison bumper stickers on their own.)
minkhollow: Sputnik: In Soviet Russia, space races YOU! (space races you!)
Hey, it's that AO3 hit-getters meme again. Let's see how the top ten's changed since last year.
in which holy shit where is that being spread around??? )
Otherwise, life continues apace. Things Are Afoot, not least of which is a resurgence of Plot With Rocks In over [community profile] milliways_bar way. (Because apparently I'm nuts, but also I miss it. XD)
minkhollow: (look at my wrist!)
Tell you what, I am finding Unfuck Your Habitat to be genius. Dishes are processed as is fitting, shelf-like surfaces in the living room are dusted, I filed my local taxes (finally; I'd lost the account number, but the guy at the office was super-helpful in tracking it down) and got my computer information filed, and I started cleaning a bit of my room (and claimed my grandmother's jewelry box since Mom said I was welcome to it). And there's laundry going on, but there's almost always laundry going on.
(The key for me, I think, is plugging my iPod into the big computer and playing that rather than watching TV. If I get sucked into a show and then half the commercial break, I lose my momentum, but I can hear the music from anywhere in the house.)
Now is break time for ye olde copy editing, and then probably one more round of cleaning SOME OF THE THINGS, maybe two if I'm really inspired.
minkhollow: (whiskey tango foxtrot)
First, and apologies to those of you who've seen this twelve times by now:

For anyone who plays or used to play at [community profile] milliways_bar and hasn't been following the back room lately: Milliways is moving to Dreamwidth!

They're using the opportunity to free up many old and retired characters for play, as well as to preserve as much of Milliways' history on Dreamwidth as possible against the possibility of LJ going kersplut.

To decide what will happen to your character, help back up the game to Dreamwidth, and to see how you'll retain control over all your content, head on over here.

Second: Hey guys, I've been podficced! You Will Move Mountains got included in the latest Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology; podficcer's post is here (I'm the one at the bottom). It is fabulous and made me squee a lot.
...I feel like there was a third thing, but I've forgotten entirely. I may well go off and write something.
minkhollow: (whiskey tango foxtrot)
HEY FORMER MILLIWAYSERS.
Those of you who've left the game may or may not have heard that we're moving to DW soon. There's a post here that covers a lot of the move-related info, and then there's this one for deletion/retirement requests. I'd recommend sticking your heads into at least the latter.
(NB: Deleting a character doesn't mean, in this instance, the stuff they did never happened. It just opens the character up to re-apping without holding a new apper to the previous continuity. DON'T MIND ME, I was highly confused by the plans here. What I described is actually the plan for currently retired characters who won't be added to the new cast list when that rolls out; deletions are still deletions. OOPS.)
minkhollow: (we are the US government)
And now that Yuletide is live, I'll share the stuff wot I wrote! As things worked out, I wrote three eras of the same fandom.

Madness: A Little Grace (Warehouse 13) for random_chick, a brief look at HG's pregnancy.

Assignment: To the Clicking of Time (Warehouse 13) for [livejournal.com profile] skitz_phenom, in which Claudia and Steve go to Oxford to solve a case.

Treat: Case Files, 1953-1962: A Selection (Warehouse 13) for Whisperslip, five cases Rebecca and Jack solved.

[livejournal.com profile] lionessvalenti correctly pegged one of these, which I think is the first time one of mine got guessed. Would you like a prize fic?

...and then it turns out [livejournal.com profile] lionessvalenti is the brilliant mind behind Moves Like Charlie's Angels, which also makes this the first time I know who my assigned writer is. :D Thank you!
Also thanks to [livejournal.com profile] estirose for the fabulous Villains By Necessity story and [livejournal.com profile] rosabelle for the super-special-bonus Rebecca/Jack (I started to suspect when it didn't turn up on your rec list)!
