minkhollow: Sputnik: In Soviet Russia, space races YOU! (space races you!)
...hmm.
I may have found something to do with my steampunk thing after all. I'll have to see if I can clean it up and unearth a plot.

And the last round of good RP karma that I've got for now is done.
In other news... well, it's a snowball's chance in hell, but I won't find out unless I'm the snowball. Hopefully, Trina's right and that'll make getting other things out a little easier. (If I stand a chance, and/or another feeler I put out goes through, and/or something, I may need somewhere in the DC area to crash/place-hunt.)

yesterday/this morning, in script format )
Am attempting to find motivation to work on my final piece for noveling, tag my lingering slowtime (note to self: back room post about that?) and generally do other stuff. I'm sure it'll come. Really don't want to go to work tonight, but hey, it's the second-last time I have to do this particular job.
Sorry I haven't been saying as much here as usual. I think keeping the paper record is absorbing a lot of what I would say.
(Also, the new Flogging Molly is pretty awesome.)

HEY FLIST. At least two of you ought to know this:
So that song that cropped up during Blue Rose all the time last spring. 'I am downright amazed at what I can destroy with just a hammer.'
What's it actually called, and who does it? (Album would be a further bonus, for possible radio play, but not necessary.)
minkhollow: Help!: The Exciting Adventure of Paul on the Floor (paul on the floor)
A meme, for great 'while I am chilling in the cracktastic game' (now with bonus [livejournal.com profile] sotto_voice!):
The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write AND give me another time period (Ancient Rome, Regency England, etc.) OR give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, etc.). I will then explain what story from that fandom I would AU in that era.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (then i'll market an elixir)
*Suspect I'm sick. boo hiss.
*Thing to Consider, should time present itself.
*Tempted to write about Arden for the latest noveling assignment. Just because. (And Stealthily, given the 'literary fiction' nonsense.) We'll see how that goes.
minkhollow: (not to be taken away)
I'm having one of those moments where I feel like I haven't been productive, academically speaking, even though I've probably written enough to finish off my assignment for the noveling class for Monday. (That will probably end up on [livejournal.com profile] mapsarecheating, once I have it all typed.) It's the fact that I'm not writing a paper or reading from textbooks, I think.
Speaking of writing journals... I feel like [livejournal.com profile] sto_helit_lace has long since outgrown its name. Especially now that I'm only writing Disc stuff occasionally. But I don't want to get a rename token without a good alternative in mind, so - suggestions?
listy time )
Also speaking of journals I write in, I think the paper!journal thing is serving me well.
minkhollow: (song of the viking)
SMITHIES! Where should we meet tomorrow? I'm in favor of Thorne's around sixish? That way we'll all end up in the same place.
The week has somewhat taken an upswing, despite the snow yesterday calling off the club dinner. (Foot of snow! Ish. And more on the way!) Also, Hairspray is an entertaining click.
::goes off to bed, muttering something about how if you're going to smoke with the front door propped open why did you bother going outside?::

In honor of Quin getting some packing done:

finals time is list time! )
Also: I am going to offer Hogswatch fics, since I feel like writing, don't know what to write, and won't have the time to make them Christmas presents. SO! Comment with a fandom (including original fic, to an extent, though this will likely mean Finch and Arden) and something prompt-shaped, and I'll try to deliver the goods before January.
(Also also, as was pointed out by [livejournal.com profile] trinora: You know what's hilarious? Club Guy cameoing in today's Dominic Deegan. I LOVE IT.)
minkhollow: Robert Redford pointing, from Sneakers (sometimes i don't understand myself)
Methinks it's time for a new list.
and so, one shall happen. )
So yeah. Thanks to those who've weighed in on the grad school indecision so far; I'm thinking what might end up happening is I'll apply to my short list and see how I feel from there. (And my short list doesn't want answers until February, so it'll give me something to do over J-term! XD)
Also, I think I need to make a new Hogswatch sweatshirt. My current model was too big in the first place, but now it's just ridiculous. Something to attend to over break, I guess.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (i'm wearing a vegetable!)
Items of note:
*The railroad trestle next to the car!bridge into Northampton? Says 'all your base are belong to us.' First I've seen of it off the Internet.
*Enchanted = Good Times. And a bit predictable, but what can you do? (Janet's gone a bit round the bend since the Rocky Horror days, clearly. And now, let us take a moment to contemplate Patrick Dempsey in a waistcoat.
...Right, done now.)
And, most importantly:
*TODD RUNDGREN IS PERFORMING IN NORTHAMPTON. December 15th, which is... sort of the first day of finals, BUT STILL. SOMEONE MUST ACCOMPANY ME ON THIS QUEST. (...And I'll have to get a sub for work. But OH WELL, IT'S TODD RUNDGREN. Sort of like OH WELL, IT'S ARLO GUTHRIE or OH WELL, IT'S BNL. One of those things, you know?)
minkhollow: Steven Banks: Elvis gotta write a speech now (elvis... gotta write a speech now)
and now, a list, in hopes it'll help me focus )
Other than that... I disapprove of the Viking horde's timing, if only because I'll have to be on my feet for three hours tonight and my back's going to be made of Ow. But I'll survive.
minkhollow: (best of Queen fandom)
Get Your Geek On was a blast, barring a minor turf war over the music. And I'm fairly certain I missed Aria and Polaris, despite our best efforts to coordinate. (Guys, I think we'll have to try again at some point; at this rate, next semester might be a better bet. But We Will Come Up With Something.)
Quin and I didn't win anything out of the costume contest, but we weren't really expecting to and we still rocked the house (or such parts of it that got the idea); pictures will follow once I have them. And really, what good is it to be the DJ if you can't include a little Best of Queen to set the mood for your grand entrance? XD I think my favorite costume on the night was Sylvester-McCoy!Doctor (who was there with Ace and Arthur Dent).
Also, Quin now has a front seat, and a bit of floor in the back. That was a pretty epic cleaning quest in its own right, though I might apply similar to my room for a bit. (This is not the homework avoidance you are looking for. Move along.) And my license crap is now set to be mailed off, so I'll be getting it on its way this afternoon.
And now, the... doing of the stuff.
minkhollow: (the complete blueprints)
*Note to off-campus types (particularly the [livejournal.com profile] ariastar- and [livejournal.com profile] polaris_starz-shaped ones): GYGO. November 10th (next Saturday). 10-2AM (costume contest's closing at 11:30). Price varies from $1 to $5, depending on how geeky you dress. Be There Or Be A Rectangular Squar Thynge. (I'm sure you'll see flyers... eventually. XD)
*Note to [livejournal.com profile] therenegades (that I prolly should post there, but I'm here): So! I get to write about our fine club for ZigZag. If there's something you think I should mention, LET ME KNOW!
*Note to dorm: Anyone have a black Sharpie I could borrow for like five seconds? (Also, does anyone know the health center's stance on eye exams?)
*Note to self: Senior picture proofs. Deal with them.
minkhollow: (but remember: i'm aquaman!)
A mosquito bit me under my eye when I was on my way back to Skinner after getting food. That? Is really damn annoying.
Mercury is still doing it wrong, but less emphatically so than Monday.
I have at least started my paper that's due next Monday; I think I'm going to end up spending that afternoon poking around the library and trying to pull together something coherent for the China stuff. (Why does the heavy-hitting research component have to hit just around Nano? Why?)
Speaking of Nano, that's probably not going to be as hectic as it could be. But oh well.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (spaceman spiff)
This is not my best week ever. If it doesn't turn around in a damn hurry, it's in danger of being fired.
a to-do list, in the hopes it'll help )
Not much else to say, other than... yeah. I kinda feel like I fail at life lately. Someone convince me that's just my brain talking?
And now, the leaving for the meeting.
