minkhollow: (do not go gentle)
Right. RenFest was made of win.
Fireworks, however... epic win. If I get hold of any of Dad's pictures I might pass them along to the Internets. Also Quin deserves applause for surviving the crowd of Massive.
There is still a bit of packing to be done, but that'll get done soon. Taking off for parts known commences tomorrow morning, by eight at the latest.
(Don't mind the links, they're for my own reference once I get to the typically-configured browser again.
minkhollow: (leap of faith)
*Crystal! Did my parents invite you to their party? (They say if they didn't, they certainly meant to.)
*Sara! We're gonna have to talk GYGO music at some point, prolly in the near future.
*Yesterday's phrase of the day: postmortem rotary mothers. (It does in fact make some sense in context.)
*I... need to start packing, or at least thinking about it. I think now is where I laugh. And cry. XD (On a related note, Dad said my car's not giving him any trouble...)
minkhollow: Steven Banks: Elvis gotta write a speech now (elvis... gotta write a speech now)
The Internets remained obstreperous this morning (one of these days I'll actually call tech support about it). But on the brighter side, I made it to the grocery this morning (Sara? Thanks for pointing those chow mein things out to me - all they had were chicken, but I figure it's still bound to be good), and I got in a little excavating in my room. This mostly means repacking a couple school boxes, but still.
list time strikes back )

You know it's gonna be a fun day when checking the weather at 11 AM has the heat index a direct flip of the actual temperature. And the actual temperature is 89. (Excessive heat warning, says weather.com. O RLY, says I.) I... think I'll be staying in as much as the plants needing watered allows.
and now, list-shaped time )
For those leaving LJ for greener pastures... I'm not moving this account, as of yet, but my fic journal is on GJ as askmeaboutpins and [livejournal.com profile] mapsarecheating is over there under the same user name. Friend as you will.
Also: ...Internets, not AGAIN. (Possibly the slowdowns have to do with the weather?)
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (interpret this!)
So the parents left this morning for Vacationland, this year known as parts surrounding my sister. I'm home alone for three weeks, two of which I'm still working.
Have read a tiny bit of HP7 (enough to wonder why everyone's bellowing, basically).
[livejournal.com profile] hpmugglestudies got [livejournal.com profile] gehayi and I Plotting, by which I mean A Magical History of the United States. It shouldn't be anywhere near as entertaining as it is, but I guess that's my inner history geek for you. XD
and now, the second episode of Grad School Indecision! )
And finally: Off in RP Land, it amuses me immensely that the PBs look related. It is a thing, perhaps.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (incendiary wit)
...So, um. I have this little talent I like to call speaking too soon, and seem to have come into a copy of HP7 despite myself. (I think the mother got it for me; anyway, she said she'd already read a bit of the beginning.)
Guess I'll be helping out with [livejournal.com profile] deadlyhollow after all, provided I can at least write up the fun before I go back to school. I don't so much want to haul that tome around just for kicks; I'll need the shelf space for other things.
(Now the real question is: Which bit do I bring out the meta IC commentary for? XD)
minkhollow: (not to be taken away)
And now, for a happier post:
*Happy birthday, Jen 2.
*Jen 1: the package got here today. Thanks!
*One of my cousins got out her tarot deck last night so our aunt could do readings. I don't think it was anything the recipients didn't already know, myself included. (Apparently I need to make up my damn mind and put my talents to good use. HMM.)
*MM is good for deciding things are in fact a go.
*GIP, but it's actually one of the first icons I made. It bears resurrecting, I think.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (i'm surprised)
*...wow, El Supervisor, that was one impressive setup for Epic Failure. More on that will have to come later, however, due to
*I get my car back after dinner! (For the girl who didn't want to learn to drive after she thought about it too hard, I'm awfully excited about this. XD)
*I couldn't even get out of the parking lot this afternoon without a moment of '...um. um. UM.' I went to pull into line, and the car in front of me had one of those 'this is where I got my car' frames around the license plate.
Dealer's last name? Arbogast.
*Note to self: post ficbits about later. Also, research that spring break thought, and the financial aid thing.
And now, the feeding of the dog.
minkhollow: (song and/or dance)
*So [livejournal.com profile] moony found a trailer for this thing called Enchanted, and it sounds pretty cool. Also, any Disney movie with a Rent poster in the background scenery has to be worthwhile. Also also, apparently Idina Menzel's in it.
...Whatever I do Thanksgiving weekend, this has to be involved. Somehow.
*On the RPage front: ahahaha WHAT. Actually, it's kind of amazing; I just never would have expected playing it out. XD
*The quest for gainful employment is... quest-like. but I am questing; it's possible yesterday's kick in the pants helped more in the longer term than in the immediate. I work like that, sometimes. Okay, a lot of the time.
Right, back to the grindstone.
minkhollow: (song of the viking)
I am now officially done, other than turning in Bohemian Politics and History of English, which I don't think I'll be able to do until Monday. At least now I know I can finish everything by the seniors' deadline.
Meanwhile, inn-based hijinks remain v. entertaining, though I don't quite know what brought this one on. (I'm also at a loss re: icons, so if the peanut gallery has suggestions, they'd be appreciated.)
I think now is when I resize photos what I took when Quin was here.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (short attention span theatre)
All three of the finals I currently have access to are started. Laundry has been achieved, as has hitting up the campus store for more blank CDs, a card for the mother (both for the holiday and her birthday), and ordering that pesky cap and gown.
Other elements of Responsible Adulthood remain mostly neglected; no doubt I'll kick myself for that later, but at least it's my own damn fault. I need Swiffers, though that might end up waiting till Sunday, when I'll be out anyway.
Running my D&D one-shot tomorrow, after lunch. Once there's a log up I'll link it here.
I'm slightly out of the playing loop at Milliways, but then, concentrating on one game along with academia suits me fine, and inn business has been booming. That's most likely going to end with yet another teenage guy in my headspace (seriously, wtf?).
I can do this and not die of stress.
minkhollow: (the complete blueprints)
Well. That's the last day of classes over. Now I just have to survive finals and resolutely ignore the bit where this time next week, I'll be on my way home. Srsly, what.
In other 'I don't want to work, nor do I want to bang the drum all day' news, the fic I've been committing now has its own tag, for great ease of finding bits.
Also, from slowtime land, I think I have a new favorite completely random friendship. I just... holy crap, I don't think either of us saw this coming, but it really really wins.
minkhollow: (the complete blueprints)
...Okay, seriously, I need to stop bloody dying of stress now. What the hell, brain.
we're taking this to list time )
::considers:: I think that helped a little. Damn end of the semester, going and being all stressful like that.
minkhollow: Robert Redford pointing, from Sneakers (sometimes i don't understand myself)
...ISIS? Seriously. There was no reason for that to take the better part of an hour. Don't tell me you're angling for an A+ at failing of your own.
I'm still trying to get it to admit I have instructor's permission for the 20th-century China class, but at least I have my 16 credits registered for. At least with the seminars it's not as though I have to worry about the space filling up.
And in somewhat happier news, hilarity is in progress.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (then i'll market an elixir)
Got back to campus Sunday night. Promptly did nothing yesterday due to combination of hormones and stress (so much crap to do, so little time). Today is a mental health day due to said stress - I'd only have more of it if I'd gone to my three-hour class today.
But I'm feeling better now, and Snakes in a Moving Group is open for business.
I need to get through this crap, find out when next semester's classes are going up for great history seminar applications, and look into summer storage (note to self: prod the girls upstairs to that end). Perhaps later there will be RPage.
Also, Quin gave me reading material, mostly in preparation for pseudo-Egyptian hijinks at [livejournal.com profile] outsideinn. It's v. fun times.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (run away!)
Shampoo has been acquired (as has chocolate!), and lunch has been consumed. Attempted to get caffeine as well, but the universe doesn't want me to have cherry Coke today, it seems. ::shrugs:: I'll think of something. And now for plans.
today: laundry, some Responsible Adulthood, reading for Tuesday, remaining CD reviews, maybe some RPage (Carl-Willow, and more time warp.)
tomorrow: more Responsible Adulthood, pack as much as possible, more class stuff
either: registration bits --> car
Thursday: set alarm to allow time for shower before hijinks ensue
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (run away!)
Am making some progress on the latest list. Huzzah.
Good reasons to perform The Checking of the Mail twice: Issue of Mental Floss showed up yesterday. Holy crap I love this magazine. (Note to self: Dead Guy Interview: Harry Nilsson. Like a LOT.)
Also, I apparently managed the only A in my class on that History of Magic paper. Not quite sure how, since I didn't feel like it was my best writing ever, but if my history-paper-fu is still with me I'll take it.
Also also, poll results aside, the rate things are going I'll be getting the Pyramids audiobook. It'll be easier on Certain Corners of My Brain if I do. (Should've realized royalty would be pushy. XD)
minkhollow: (song of the viking)
FacMan came through with the ant traps this morning. I... think I'll be glad they interrupted the subconscious film of the hour. No, you don't want to know more.
Another reason [livejournal.com profile] chaucerhathblog wins: poetry riffs! But more specifically FRANK O'HARA POEM IN MIDDLE ENGLISH. So happymaking.
I more or less have a cover letter. Huzzah.
Shiny new Pretendy Funtime Game: [livejournal.com profile] outsideinn. Opened last night and is full of Awesome. And now, a moment from the chat last night:
continuity? What continuity? I don't remember any continuity... )
And that's all for now, aside from me pretending I don't have a billion things to do in the week before spring break. Someone hide me from the work. XD
