So... yeah. Continued Rent-trailer glee, in the form of icon spam. (Those of you who couldn't care less, I'm terribly sorry; I'll calm down one of these days. And then start all over again when I see the whole movie. XD)

icons wot have text:

icons wot have templates:

(Template credit goes to perfectsquare, icon_synthesis, and riversofsound, respectively, and I've had the things so long that I don't even know whether those LJ names are accurate, which is why no links.)

icons wot are bases:

|

(Because Mark and his camera are cute, and that's Roger LAUGHING. Rare event!)
Please to not hotlink, and credit is nice but I like comments more, just because I like seeing where these things go. XD

Why do you have so many pictures of me? I am slightly frightened. But I shall use them in my journal. Because I like them for some odd reason.

I think I fear that a bit more than the couple here, Arthur. I'm so sorry.

I don't even know why anyone would want that many pictures of me. I'm really not that interesting.

It's strange what people find intersting. Half the people in my movie would probably not find themselves interesting, even though others do. I dont' find myself interesting at all.

I once knew someone who found fjords interesting. Alright, it was mostly because he designed them for a living, but it still seemed rather odd at the time.

I guess in their own way, fjords are interesting. But that is rather odd, really. I might be a bit scared for that man's sanity.

I would have if I hadn't been so busy fearing for my own.

Oh? Why were you fearing for your own? Strange things happeneing or something?

From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
Very strange things. Which at that point hadn't started happening to me with quite the regularity they do now, so I was rather thrown off by them.

I feel you there, dude. My life was almost normal until I met my roommate, and then really fucking strange things started happening.

Date: 2005-06-04 05:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
He raises an eyebrow.

"As strange as finding out the Earth was built by aliens and run by mice?"

Date: 2005-06-04 05:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
Hold the phone there, dude. The Earth is built by aliens and run by mice? Are you sure you haven't been getting a bit too much into the crack? Cause if you are, that must be some good stuff. I know a few people who might like it.

Date: 2005-06-04 05:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
Oh, that it were that simple...

"Unfortunately, I'm completely and utterly serious."

He holds up his hands as if to say 'See? No crazy here.'

Date: 2005-06-04 05:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
Well, fuck. That's certainly something I didn't know. There were enough mice in my apartment, that it makes me wonder what they wanted with Roger and me. That's strange, man. Really strange.

From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
Oh boy, you haven't heard the half of it.

"Well that's just it, you see. They were actually creatures from another dimension. They had to choose an inconspicuous form of life to appear as in order to keep tabs on humans."

He gives Mark a sympathetic look. And he thought he was on crack before?

"I told you it made me fear for my sanity."

"You sure you haven't been taking a few too many hits, dude?" Mark eyes Arthur a bit warily. "But then again, there are some pretty fucking wierd things which go on in this bar, so you might be right."

Date: 2005-06-07 03:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
He shakes his head, smiling. "I almost wish I had. But no, I wasn't under the influence of anything when this happened."

From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
Mark just shakes his head. "That is one freaky story. I should interview you for my film. Would make it even more interesting."

Date: 2005-06-07 04:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
"Sure."

He pulls a flat, squarish metallic object out of his pocket.

"Want to see something else that's interesting?"

Date: 2005-06-07 04:23 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
Mark pulls out the camera "One sec. Lemme film this." He sets it up, and points it at the ... thing.

It would seem, dear viewers that we are being shown something new and different, something quite unlike anything seen before. What is this metallic... thing our new friend is showing us?

From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
He smiles nervously at the camera as he pulls the Guide out of its cover.

"This, you may be surprised to find out, is a book."

He presses a few buttons and brings up the index, skimming through it until he finds a familiar entry.

"Just press that... and there."

'Space,' (http://www.earthstar.co.uk/space.htm) says the Guide in its calm, even voice, 'is big...'

Mark, for a long moment, just lets the book make its own narration. There's really not much he can add to that. However, after it's done, Mark does take up again.

And there you have it, folks, a futuristic book that actually talks. Interesting, isn't it? Perhaps we should ask Arthur a question. So, tell the folks at home, Arthur, what this book is called, and how you came upon it.

Date: 2005-06-07 05:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
"It's called the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I got this copy from the bar, but I originally got it from a friend of mine who turned out to be from a different planet."

Date: 2005-06-07 05:20 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
And there you have it, folks. A guide to hitchhiking across the galaxy. How prevalent is this hitchhiking, Arthur?

No one ever said Mark wasn't thorough when he wanted to be.

Date: 2005-06-07 05:37 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
He smiles a more genuine smile this time. If it were anyone else asking, this would feel uncomfortably like being interrogated, but it's different seeing Mark in full-on filmmaker mode.

"It's a fairly common pastime, from what my friend's told me. There's a lot to see out there."

Not all of it pleasant, he fails to add.

Date: 2005-06-07 05:41 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
The narration continues, a grin on Mark's face which bleeds over into the narration.

That sounds quite fascinating, Arthur. Do tell us a story or two of your travels. I assume you have a few travels, knowing this book as well as you do.

Date: 2005-06-07 05:57 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
Arthur fidgits (again!), pressing a few random buttons on the Guide.

"Well, it all started when the Earth was destroyed. In my reality, that is," he adds quickly, looking up to gauge Mark's reaction.

Date: 2005-06-07 06:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
Splutter. Mark has trained himself well to not react to anything said or done while he is filming, but this? Well, it's a bit surprising. Composing himself, he clears his throat.

Yes, folks. You heard it right. Earth, in the reality of our new friend Arthur was destroyed. How did that happen?

He pulls it off almost flawlessly, but his voice breaks a bit, hoping that -his- reality isn't Arthur's.

Date: 2005-06-07 06:12 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
"It was destroyed by aliens. Not a 'take us to your leader, we come in peace' style invasion, mind you. Nothing so grand. We were in the way."

Date: 2005-06-07 06:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
Well, there you have it, folks. The Earth is in the way.

Mark shakes his head. Silly future people.

Date: 2005-06-07 06:20 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
"And believe it or not, it got worse."

Date: 2005-06-07 06:22 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
How could it get worse from there? The Earth was already gone.

Breaking for a moment from narrative mode, he sounds just a bit more like himself than the great film narrator.

Date: 2005-06-07 06:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
It's a fair question. He'd wonder that himself if he hadn't experienced it firsthand.

"Like this."

He opens the Guide again and brings up the entry on Vogons (http://www.earthstar.co.uk/vogon.htm).

Date: 2005-06-07 06:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
Mark lets the Guide do the narration again, but just as it ends, Mark swears. "Oh, fuck. I ran out of juice in the battery." He looks up at Arthur, abashed. "Sorry, man."

Date: 2005-06-07 06:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thelastearthman.livejournal.com
"That's alright," he sighs. "We can continue some other time."

Date: 2005-06-07 06:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bohemian-mark.livejournal.com
"Thanks, man. I"m really sorry about that." Mark looks rather sheepish. "I'll make sure to charge up the battery more next time."
