Memphis trip was fun. Got my fill of Elvis for... oh, the next year or so. Hard Rock Cafe was coolness, especially the stairwell theme (all manner of '60s stuff, and let's just say I know Pete Townshend's handiwork when I see it). Also, note to self: See if Todd Rundgren is touring again, and if so, whether Cincinnati/related environs is before or after the Memphis date.
Finished Maskerade on the first leg of the trip, and am now most of the way through The Last Continent. In regards to the former, it was indeed fun, and it gave me some shirt-decorating ideas. As for the latter... poor Ponder. That's all I have to say.

Date: 2004-05-05 08:50 pm (UTC)The only Pratchet book our library had was something called Lords and Ladies. I didn't get that, since it wasn't quite what I was looking to read right now. I'll just have to see if the library in Chattanooga has any Discworld, when I go to recheck out Good Omens.
I've found a new fandom since you've been gone. *points to LJ* Also, I'm actually *gasp* working on my website! What a concept, huh?

Date: 2004-05-06 11:58 am (UTC)! Lords and Ladies is a REALLY good one. One of my favorite Discworld books, in fact. I think it's the elves that do it. But I can see where it's not exactly up your alley at the moment...
Somehow, you finding a new fandom doesn't surprise me in the least. But what's all this about a website? You mean to say you've got one of the things? < /sarcasm >

Date: 2004-05-06 12:08 pm (UTC)Ah, gee. Couldn't have anything to do with the fact I tend to collect fandoms like most people do stamps or pretty rocks, does it? And surprisingly, it's a fandom that isn't fantasy or Brittish. Amazing isn't it?
Yes, a website! *gaspshock*
*pokes at LJ* Why didn't it mail me this?

Date: 2004-05-06 12:31 pm (UTC)The books sort of go in mini-arcs, for the most part - Lords and Ladies is from the middle-ish of the ones featuring the witches. And from what I've heard about Night Watch, you'd appreciate it more if you read the other Watch books first. (I've got a copy of that one, but haven't read it yet since I'm still missing a couple along the way.) But on the whole, any old order should suit you fine.
So if you get into this stuff, we'll soon take care of the British-fantasy fandom thing. XD
Also, LJ didn't mail you that because LJ is selectively evil.

Date: 2004-05-06 04:56 pm (UTC)So, skipping around in the series is okay, then? I usually try to read things in order, but in this case I think I'll make an exception. And if I get into this, then I'd understand your posts so much better, and would get to read your diskworld stuf. *nods*
Anyway, did you see my fic for the non-fantasy non-British fandom?

Date: 2004-05-06 05:20 pm (UTC)Saw that you wrote fic, yes. But I haven't read it, mainly because I haven't seen the movie in question. Would it still make sense without, d'you think?
no subject
Date: 2004-05-06 05:28 pm (UTC)Well, it would make sense, but it woud spoil a major part of the movie for you. And you would so not get the Neil/Todd love. Hell, it's been my favorite movie for eight years now, and I only recently got the Neil/Todd love! (I was sadly underexposed to slash when I was thirteen, yes.)
You need to rent the move, and not just because I wrote fic for it or for any potential pairings. You need to see it because it's a fucking wonderful movie and it's a classic. And you need to have tissues handy.

Date: 2004-05-06 05:40 pm (UTC)>>Although, it's going to be odd introducing myself in a game where there's a character named after me.<<
You have a very good point there. It'll also make my own random observations on the stuff a lot more interesting ('okay, which Morgan was I talking about?'). But it's fun times, and the last few new characters've been people picking up a second (or third, in extreme cases) - nothing wrong with that, of course, but new people are just as much fun. Occasional book-spoilers are highly likely, though past a certain point the characters develop lives of their own. I'm sure you know how it is. XD
::makes note, re: the movie:: I'll see what I can do. (Related note: For your website, you may want to indicate what fandoms the 'other' fics are for.)

Date: 2004-05-06 05:49 pm (UTC)I knw what you mean. Good old 1UT (may it rest in peace) had to end because Ange and I were trying to pick up all the parts just so they would be played, because we weren't getting new players. And we needed the characters. So, yeah, new people are always a good thing. *nods*
*nods* Rent it if you see it somewhere. Really, you'll love it.
..And thanks for the tip. ^^;; Why did I not think to do that? I put what fandom in the fic headers, but that so slipped my mind.

Date: 2004-05-06 06:21 pm (UTC)And you're welcome. I don't know how it slipped your mind either, and you do have the excuse of a major construction site (no pun intended) on your side.

Date: 2004-05-11 12:03 am (UTC)No, seriously, where are you around here? I'm in Ft. O, and rather amazed by how small the internet really is. XD Who'd have thought a friend of a friend would live in the same area? And have some of the same interests.. You're even a member of my community.. (looked at your profile ^^; ) JILL!! You really DO have to make it down here now!!
I've only read Good Omens, but I've wanted to read other things he's done, but am having just a slight bit of trouble tracking them down. ^^;;; Nice to meet you!

Date: 2004-05-11 12:32 am (UTC)Yes, I've been trying to. Librarys and used book stores (next time you come to Chatt, you really need to stop by McKays. <333 I am in love with that store.)
I hope you don't mind, but I've friended you.

Date: 2004-05-11 01:05 am (UTC)And friending back = very good! =DD
Summer being here is not good when you work fast food, as I do. But I'm job hunting, since I was only trying to stay long enough to get my vacation out of them (I deserved it, trust me), so maybe I'll get a job where there's a working air conditioner. Like retail. ..I miss retail.
I prefer winter, anyway. I was a penguin in a past life. Or am part penguin in this one, although I'm not sure how that would work.
No, I haven't gone there, but it sounds like the kind of thing I'd enjoy. So maybe next time I go out to eat, I'll take your suggestion. ^_^ I also know of this incredible Italian place, called Porebellos, or something like that. It's a bit hard to find, and I'd have to get directions to it from Mom. THE best rolls. Oh, and the chicken marasola... I order it each time. I love it that much.

Date: 2004-05-11 01:18 am (UTC)I work at McD. One of these days I'm going to go off on one of the parents, I know I am. Because who lets their child come in a public plays and wail for thirty minutes without doing a single thing to stop them?
Fae, actually. But I could be a Featherre, I suppose. XD A penguin fairy... I want one. I'd hug it, and pet it, and squeeze it, and pat it on the head, and I'd name it George. *sage nod*
