"...Why did they lock this?"

Finch raised an eyebrow. "Lock what?"

"The fridge. With a combination lock."

"Maybe they haven't cleaned it out in a while."

Arden shrugged. "I don't think we'll need to get in there to get what we're after, but still. If they're that concerned about whatever's inside, possibly they shouldn't be keeping it in the fridge."

They searched the rest of the room, but the paperwork that Captain Steve had sent them to... liberate was nowhere to be found. Finch considered the situation for a few moments; they probably could come back empty-handed, since the captain hadn't seemed to be in a particularly desperate state over the paperwork.

But professional pride demanded they at least be thorough about the matter, and both of them knew it.

"We're going to have to check the fridge. You any good at cracking combination locks?"

"No, but I can try." Arden worked at the lock for a few minutes, before dropping it against the fridge door with a frustrated sigh. "This thing's beyond me. Your turn."

No more than two minutes later, they were on their way back to the ship, paperwork in hand.

"Really, Finch, pulling your sword on a lock?"

"It got the job done, didn't it?"

"Well, yes. And really, I'm more disturbed by the state of the rest of the fridge."

"True. Mayonnaise has no business being that shade of purple."

"I don't even want to know how it got to that point. We're probably lucky it wasn't sentient."

"I can hear that explanation now. 'Sorry we're late getting back, the mayo tried to hold Arden hostage...'"

"Why do I always have to be the hostage in these situations?"

Finch sighed. "You don't. It was just an example."

"I know. Good to know you'd leap to my defense, even though I'm not sure how much good your sword would do against sandwich spread."

"Of course I would. And it couldn't have hurt to try."
