Lady Phred inna newspaper; link stolen from [livejournal.com profile] seramercury. Mood trying to crash again due to reading it, but that's to be expected. And easily fought off, methinks.
On a sort-of related note, it's amazing how much music can turn your entire day around.

Dear local classic rock station,
Yes, "Funeral For a Friend" is a good song. Yes, it deserves rather more air time than it gets (possibly because it's 10 minutes long). But really now, playing it so that I catch a bit no more than two hours after finding out a good family friend died last night?
Not on. Not on AT ALL.

(The world still sucks, but now I feel really good about it. At least managed to cheer up a bit at work, odd as that may sound.)

Mom called. Lady Phred died last night.
Have pretty much known this was coming, but still. The world sucks. (Real life, fiction, whichever - it's always the best people. ALWAYS.)
May or may not elaborate later. Right now I'm just trying to stay coherent enough to go to work.

So, yeah. Finally woke up around 2:30. After getting up at 8ish and going to classes all day.
And it's snowing, and it's two weeks till spring break (holy crap!), and parents tracked down Lord and Lady Phred but apparently she's not doing well at all (not too surprised on that front, but it still sucks).
On the bright side, I finished my homework early tonight. woot!

::snerk:: one: Someone remind me why I want to be an English major?
::snerk:: two: Dad and I were watching the Soul Music DVD last night (note to self: that goes back tomorrow), and I wondered aloud if you'd really want tap water in Ankh-Morpork, since that's mentioned in there. He countered with, "So is that where Jesus walked on the water?"

Parents accusing me of talking to plants in the yard. I do no such thing, as least not that I'm aware of. Dad says I should figure out what the expletive it is. Am wondering if Crowley!gardening would henceforth be possible... (Will be sure to let y'all know if I figure it out.)
ATTN: Twig, Princess Grace, and any other people from school who might happen through - I am likely to post Kairos spoilers when I get back on Thursday. I will be sure to mark them as such and take it on trust that you won't open them till after you've gone.
(ETA: afrai, if you still don't have your mail next Saturday let me know and I'll prepare another go.
And Moony? [livejournal.com profile] kurtaholics and [livejournal.com profile] fuzzy_bluelf. Have been goofing with friendsfriends, so it might be you already, but still. Thought you'd like to know if you didn't.)

If I could just make it through this week without killing anyone (especially considering the number of sodding idiots who are ASKING for it), that would be lovely. Too much stuff, not enough time. Narrowly (and I do mean narrowly) avoided a nervous breakdown in maths, seeing as I screwed myself re: understanding the first chapter of stuff for the exam. (eep.)
In other news, it lives! It lives! More to the point, Anathema told everyone about Google. This ought to get interesting. XD (Actually, I stumbled across the band referenced in there somewhere a while back. Prolly through someone's LJ interests, come to think of it. Haven't heard anything though, so I can't give you any sort of review.)
We got a new sofa-thingy today. There's a recliner and a hide-a-bed and the thing is like four feet tall or so. Mom said it smelled like someone killed a cow in the living room (mass quantities of black leather, donchaknow), but I told her that would likely smell much worse.
As stated, am going to prom after all. Whoopee. Watch me party. (Really, I'm sure there'll be something enjoyable about the whole thing, just... right now I've too much otherwise to deal with.)
Dad stopped on the way home from dinner to talk to one of my parents' friends; his wife just started chemo. AGAIN. (She had breast cancer last year and fought that down, and now there's cancer in her legs and pelvis. There were articles about her in the local paper and possibly the Enquirer, but I don't think so, while she was busy last year.) Just... dude. They could do with some good karma (or whatever you prefer), if y'all wouldn't mind.
Have written a paragraph of Religion Paper of DOOM. /me feels quite accomplished. XD Now, if I can just find the Silicon Valley article without losing what little sanity I had in the first...
