A writing meme! Writing memes are good. (Convenient pre-blank form provided by
misslucyjane.)
GENERAL:
1. How long have you been writing?
With a concerted effort? Since 2000. Though I was composing informative nonfiction on KidPix when I was six or seven, and I've always had an overactive imagination.
2. Do you prefer poems or stories?
Stories. I can't do poetry.
3. Do you aspire to getting your work published?
Yep! There's an impending publication, to start.
4. Have you had anything published? If so, what? [if they can be found online, link to them]
"Subterranean Blues" is going to be part of the anthology listed on the first page. (Whenever it comes out - but hey, I signed the contract and everything.)
5. What are you working on now?
Fic: A Harry Potter/Sneakers crossover that... shouldn't work as well as it is (nearly 11,000 words well, WTF SELF) and is basically me railing at HP7, an Iron Man/Real Genius crossover that's been nibbling at my brain, and whatever momentarily strikes my fancy.
Original: The steampunk iteration of two D&D characters' adventures, an urban fantasy plot
gehayi put in my head by asking where the fae plumbers are, and various other things. I have a few more ideas in the same universe as "Subterranean Blues"; I'd thought one would be a Nano project, but that universe might work better as short stories.
6. What do you use to get the creative juices flowing?
itsproductivity prompts, prompts from other people, or just sitting down and going 'okay, writing time!'
7. Do you show your poems/stories to others?
That I do. I lock the original stuff I put online, just in case anything comes of it.
8. Do you write fanfiction?
It's what I started in.
9. Do you prefer to write original fic or fanfic?
Both have their merits and drawbacks. What I prefer on a day-to-day basis depends on what plot bunny's the loudest.
10. Do you want/have a career that involves your writing skills?
I want to write for a living, if I can. When I get the job-search thing going in earnest, I'm planning to look around publishing stuff.
ORIGINAL POETRY:
1. Do you prefer to rhyme or not?
2. What rhyming format is most popular in your poems? [abab, aabb, aabba, etc]
3. What is your longest poem? What was the subject?
4. Do you write poetry for fun?
5. Will you share any of your poems with your friends list? [link to them, or paste at the end of this post]
(I'm leaving this section if anyone wants to steal the meme, but... the last poetry I wrote was in high school, and it reached the point where I considered writing one about how much I hate writing poetry. So yeah.)
ORIGINAL STORIES:
1. Have you completed a story? If so, how many?
A handful of short stories, and Nanowrimo once.
2. What is your longest piece of fiction? [by word count]
The finished Nano. Just over 50,000 words.
3. What genre do you prefer to write?
Science fiction/fantasy/Weird Shit Happens.
4. What time of day is the best time for you to write?
I used to do really well with after midnight. Now... it depends.
5. Do you have any of your stories online to share with your friends list? If so, link to them.
I do, but they're f-locked on a separate journal (
mapsarecheating).
FANFICTION:
1. Which medium do you prefer to write fanfic for? [TV, film, books, other]
Started with TV, but these days it's more movies and books, just because I don't watch much TV.
2. Which fandom do you write for most?
By volume from the crossovers, probably a tie between Harry Potter and Sneakers.
3. Do you get many readers for your fanfic? [pimp it here if you like]
::shrugs:: A few. I don't really write for big fandoms all that often.
4. Do you prefer to write one-shots or ongoing tales?
That depends on where the plot bunny takes me.
5. How do you get inspired to write your fanfic?
Oh, any old thing will do it, usually. Daria fandom primed me to handle wacky crossovers with ease, so I usually come up with those all on my own.
