Thing One: Password problem solved. So I should be able to take care of the network thingywhatsit this afternoon.
Thing Two: MOUNTAIN GOATS PEOPLE. Turns out Little Feat's at the Calvin the same night; as concerts go, that's much more my speed. HOWEVER, this does not preclude some sort of dinner gathering. (Lexie, Aria, you guys probably have a better idea of what restaurants are allergy-people-friendly, if that's something to consider?) I will also have Special Bonus
quinby, as lead-up to spring break vacationing.
Thing Three: a meme!
Come up with the craziest theory you can think of for any of my fandoms (ridiculous crossover theories a bonus) I know about, and I will explain why it makes perfect sense and is in fact probably true.
(Fandoms: Daria, Good Omens, Discworld, Rent, Night at the Museum, Sneakers, Potterverse)

Two crazy theories

Date: 2008-02-11 01:35 am (UTC)They'd hit it off well enough, despite their differences, and decided around the same time that college just wasn't right for either of them. (Mark knew what he wanted to do, and didn't think formal education would get him there; Larry... didn't know what he wanted to do, other than invent things, and figured he'd be better off plotting and scheming than messing around in school for years and spending money he didn't really have.)
They kept in touch as best as they could after that, whenever their respective precarious situations allowed. Mark even baby-sat Nick a few times, but never when Roger and April were planning to come over. Erica had a hard enough time letting her son around Collins and Maureen; no use adding the influence of junkies to the picture.
Erica filed to divorce Larry the same week April killed herself. That sort of thing usually happens in threes, but to this day Mark still doesn't know what the third thing was, unless it was Benny marrying Alison and turning into an asshole. When Benny made his big power play around Christmas, Larry offered Mark a place to stay, but Mark ended up winging it. He wasn't leaving Roger alone, HIV had replaced heroin on the list of things to keep well away from Nick, and Larry was having housing issues of his own.
Mark ended up cleaning up his footage of that unforgettable year and distributing it just to see what would happen. It did moderately well - a lot better than Mark was expecting, anyway, but Roger pointed out that his self-confidence (or lack thereof) didn't exactly make that hard. He started trying to work on some other projects, and caught Larry's interest with a couple of them, but only a couple. Most of the time there was some grand scheme or other in progress that was The Real Thing, No, Really, I Mean It This Time.
Nearly seven years after the first Christmas Eve - the one Mark would never forget even if he hadn't filmed it - Larry called about an hour before sundown and said, "Hey, want another best-selling documentary? I've got perfect fodder for you."
Mark was a little surprised to find out Larry had succumbed to gainful employment. But once things picked up, he couldn't deny that Larry was right - even if people took the museum's quirks for fiction, the film would almost certainly draw an audience.
