Hokay, so. Computer tribulations update: Rumor is that I can take the updates I don't want off the update queue. Rumor is also that my password got reset when the hard drive got replaced, but God only knows to what. That would at least explain why nothing I've tried worked. (Maybe I should avail myself of iForgot. That still cracks me up.)
If the first bit is the case, I can get through the first hurdle presented by school's shiny new IP registration. The second hurdle: It's probably about time I got a virus-scanning program anyway, never mind the bit where this registration requires one. The school is supporting McAfee, but I've heard nasty things about it slowing down everything else I might want to do.
To that end: Anyone know of good virus-scanning things for Macs that I could get cheaply if not for free?

McAfee sucks. But I think you remember my tribulations with it. Alas, I don't know much about Macs. I can poke around my contacts. (Read: Prod the ex-boyfriend who used to work for Apple, and the other ex who is practally a Mac developer. (don't ask.))
