but even astronauts get tired

...So. That one big tree that looked like it was about to fall on Wilder?
Totally fell on Wilder. (Props to Sara for seeing that coming last year.) There's a chunk off the roof, and about half the tree is now on the ground. Blanchard gossip is that someone was under it at the time, and that whoever it was is more or less okay, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. (Would explain all the sirens earlier, though.) Might be pictures later, if I remember to grab my camera before I go to Renegades.
Days like these, I'm glad I'm not in Prospect.
Wilder is one of the older dorms on campus, and pretty much the most popular if the speed it fills up during housing lottery is any indication. It's next to the student center (that being the aforementioned Blanchard). There's a giant old tree next to it, on the side closer to Blanchard, that perhaps should have been cut down last year (instead of the really cool and pretty much healthy one next to Mead mumble mumble).
Or, well, it's about half of a giant old tree, now. It's really damned windy up here today, as this would seem to indicate.
Prospect, the dorm I was in last year, is a boxy 1950s affair down by the lake. And when it's really windy, you can hear the wind coming in through the fire escape doors on either end of the hallway. I did not feel safe in there, those sort of days.

Date: 2006-02-17 07:59 pm (UTC)You are exceedingly silly sometimes. But that's why we love you. Why's the heating thing that much of an unholy mess?
