Fandom plugging day two: Enchanted Forest Chronicles.
This is a series of four books (Dealing With Dragons, Searching for Dragons, Calling on Dragons, and Talking to Dragons) by Patricia Wrede. Young-adult-ish fantasy, and four of the best books I have ever read. The whole thing starts when the princess gets tired of everyone making her be proper, and volunteers cooking and cleaning services to some dragons to get out of marrying some idiot.
Bit of a Fractured Fairy Tale feel to the whole thing - there are wizards, yes, but they're the bad guys. (Here I must admit the cut-tag line is slightly inaccurate, seeing as the wizards only melt if it's soapy water with lemon juice. Couldn't resist, though.) The dragons are the good guys, with help from various other people, and the traditional fantasy genre is otherwise turned on its head. The Enchanted Forest itself is one of the coolest places EVER.
I think my favorite of the books is the third one; due to the POV character, there are added talking cats, it doesn't really end on a happy note but there's still hope, the traditionalist guy would give Lady Lilith of Witches Abroad fame a run for her money, and... there's Killer (who's supposed to be a rabbit, but keeps getting magicked at).
Other than the FF.Net section, there's not much fandom online for these books. They need more love.

Gacked that music meme that's started around, but haven't filled it out yet. Anyway I think the one long cut in this post ought cover things. XD
Dug up the link per request: Everything I Needed to Know I Learned From RPing. Drop comments there if you want, but let me know if you do - I don't have 'em emailed to me.
Am very nearly done with Jingo. All I have to say right now is when that Dis-Organizer mixup catches up, it catches up with a VENGEANCE. One of the most sobering Pratchett moments ever.

Oh, I loved the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. In the following order: #1, #3, #2, #4 (didn't like #4 very much at all). Eee, cats!

I tend to think of the last three as unnecessary continuations of the first, but I'm so fond of the third one that I enjoy it nonetheless. Morwen (that is her name, right? I'm having a bad day as far as remembering characters' names goes) is just too cool -- I like her best of all the major character, with the dragon in second -- and, well, the cats!
