Merry Christmas Happy Hogswatch Oh, you get the idea.
I got books, and notebook-type objects, and pirates, and Borders!money, and pajamas (penguins on the nightshirt, Morgan, you'd love it) and A CARDBOARD LEGOLAS!
...But I have to share that last with Mom. XD [livejournal.com profile] vongroovy, you were right, they *are* rather creepy at times.
While I'm here, my list of great movie swordfights is up to three. Previously on the list were Inigo and Westley in The Princess Bride (because they know what they're doing) and Darth Ted and Luke Bill in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (because they DON'T know what they're doing, and it's funny). Newcomer: Jack and Will, Pirates of the Caribbean, same reason as the Princess Bride swordfight (though obviously with different circumstances).

My more swordishly-inclined friend complained about the suckiness of the swordfight in PoTC -- she mentioned a general Law of Swordfights wherein the flashier the fight (e. g. people jumping up into rafters and donkeys and whirring things, etc.) the worse the actual swordfighting.

I, being a total dunce who should have flunked fencing last year, find the flashy sparkliness of bad swordfighting most entertaining.

Er. And I felt like sharing? The Princess Bride one is lovely, and, now that I think about it, rather reminds me of PoTC -- they're both sort of parody, and sort of not, and have boats in moonlight. And stuff. Happy Hogswatch!

In her defense, it's probably similar to seeing a poorly written sentence: for those who see the errors, it distracts from the eye candy. Which is sad.

But I am a swordplebe, and yes! Eye candy!

Whee! Cardboard Legolas! Cardboard Legolases (Legoli?) are great! But, yes, creepy. I've had mine for months, and I still poke at it sometimes, just to be super positive that he hasn't suddenly come to life. And then I feel like a dork.

But fun!

(Happy Christmas!)
