yet more ramblage

First off - hey,
randomfrog. To what do I owe the pleasure?
So I'm the guard assistant-ish person (in terms of getting their equipment on the field) this year. And sometimes I'll pick up a flag or a rifle or something and goof around with it. It's fairly obvious that I don't really know what I'm doing - I've been taught how to do drop spins twice and I don't remember it - but the stuff's still fun to play with.
Today one of the guard members told me I'm not that bad at it, considering I don't know what I'm doing. Go me! XD
Am out of ideas concerning RPage, and anywayAde Celestina doesn't seem to be online. Maybe later (hopefully not hours later, though).
Music is entirely the fault of
corialis, since she was discussing the band and their songs getting stuck in your head. Different song, though.

Date: 2003-10-04 09:34 pm (UTC)That is to say, one of the guard members did. I was well out of the way at the time. See, the hula hoops had painfully flourescent fabric on them, and the equipment change consisted of throwing them to the sideline, and it was a really windy day... the wind caught the hula hoop in question, sent it over the field commander's head, and it landed right next to the percussion judge. Was quite funny. He prolly though he was safe, on the sideline. XD
And today we had a dog barking in tempo along the way to the warm-up area. That was just brilliant.

Date: 2003-10-04 09:44 pm (UTC)There was one time where we had practice just after a torrential downpour, so the football field was a complete mudpit. Everyone was slipping and skidding around, a few people almost dropped their instruments, one guy stripped off his shoes and marched barefoot because he couldn't take it anymore...and after we left, all you could see were these great muddy scars going up and down the field.
And then there was the one drum major who worked a "Suck it!" gesture into his salute without the director noticing...*nostalgic*
I never thought I'd say it, but man, I miss flags and marching band.

Date: 2003-10-04 09:50 pm (UTC)We don't have a football field to practice on - we sort of take over the parking lot after school. Sometimes people leave their casr in the spot we need to practice in, so it's very tempting to take the guard equipment to it. Oops! Well, you shouldn't've left your car there. XD
And one time... either last year or the year before I accidentally threw most of my flute across the parking lot. Pretending it was guard equipment, only holding on to the head joint... yeah. It didn't get badly damaged, at least, so I got to find it rather funny at the time as well as doing so now.
I know how you feel. Before I had stuff to do this year I was just hanging out in the bleachers, and it's not right, not having anything to do at halftime.

Date: 2003-10-05 12:33 pm (UTC)Admittedly I'm less of a band geek than I was in previous years of high school, but I'm still hanging in there. (Or is it I'm more of a band geek because I'm there but I don't really have to be? Hmm.) And as for the authors, it all started with GO but once you're in you don't get around to leaving. One of these days I will be reading Sandman, I swear.
RPage will one day take over the world. If it hasn't already.

Date: 2003-10-05 01:59 pm (UTC)Yes, you will, perhaps because I shall ceaselessly bother you about it until you cave in.
And yes, I *do* terrorize my Friends List for fun and profit.

Date: 2003-10-05 02:15 pm (UTC)I don't need to be terrorized into it. I need to either have enough money to buy the stupid things or be able to find them at the library. I know they're there somewhere.

Date: 2003-10-05 07:17 pm (UTC)... and you have a blog!! Marry me, please.

Date: 2003-10-05 07:47 pm (UTC)...And how does the blog factor into this? XD Just curious, you know. I hardly use the thing (other than as a link list) now I've got an LJ. And actually I've got two, and I've had three at varying points. All of the third blogs died.
A marriage proposal. I think that's a first. ^_^
