minkhollowq) So I've been bumped to a group that's so far behind upper management keeps forcing overtime,* and yet Supervisor Guy had to cast around for twenty minutes yesterday before he found something for me to do. One of these things is not like the other.
w) Said something turned out to be 'here, buff some paint off these things that were accidentally painted before they got welded!' If I never have to do that again, it'll be too soon. On the bright side, it got me through yesterday and today.
e) On the other bright side, also known as I Am A Dork, the parts I was getting paint off of remind me of K-9, or at least his top. There's a hole at the end, and two holes on an upward slant, and then a bolt thingy... K-9!
I don't care that the paper calls them handles. This is like the 'hangers' that came up on the paint line last week and look like space invaders. The paper can say whatever it wants, and my brain will carry on.
r) So the car attempted to give me Out Of Battery Error as I went to leave. That was... fun. Dad's diagnosis: Keep the car on when sitting there listening to the stereo. And now we know!
t) Foundation trilogy continues apace. Today, that pace is also known as 'I don't know why reality not matching theory is so hilarious BUT IT IS.' XD
y) ETA: I forgot a good bit from yesterday! My question: Who on Earth decided 'gaylord' was an appropriate name for a unit of storage? (I can't make this stuff up.)
*I don't know whether they'll try this week, as Supervisor Guy took the afternoon off; if they do, I'm liable to go 'sorry, you should have told me yesterday.' Anyway, there's a grievance party happening on the matter tomorrow afternoon. Pity I'm in no position to have filed one. I kinda want to watch the fireworks. XD
In other news: I think yesterday's LJ blackout is part of a larger lesson in 'why you shouldn't concentrate half the Internet's data centers in one city.'
And my Ankh-Morpork Postal Service bag got here! It's not overly padded, but that's okay, I have a towel! I can still use it for Hex.
