she always gets it right

So my iPod seems to have spontaneously died.
It was fine yesterday afternoon; had it plugged into the parents' computer for a bit to take advantage of the thing's nice speakers, and then had it on as normal most of the afternoon. Turned it off to help with dinner, came back afterward...
And now it's doing NOTHING.
The hold switch is not on. I've plugged it into both computers and the battery pack thinger Mom got Dad for Christmas. It's not doing anything when I plug the headphones in, either, and that usually turns it on.
While I appreciate this happening before I leave the general area of the store I got it at for another four months, and it should still be under warranty (I got it in August), the warranty info and the receipt, if I still have it, are in Massachusetts. So I don't know if taking it back to Micro Center and going 'WTF, mate?' is entirely a viable option.
And I don't know what I can do to fix the thing if it won't even register as plugged in on either computer.
Playing stuff off it on the parents' computer is the only thing I did out of the ordinary. I usually listen to it every day, for a bit. And I don't think playing stuff like that caused the problem, since it worked fine afterward, though it might have (hell if I know how).
Any suggestions are very much welcome. Meanwhile I'm gonna go bury my woes in packing (and maybe preordering Rent).
