Finished Going Postal. Short review: Yes,
oddsocks, I think it's right up there with Night Watch. Then again, I have the whole mailman's-daughter bias going... XD
Ack, this was a fun book. Perfectly insane and VETINARI FOR AMERICA, DAMMIT and, and, just.
The Post Office Logic, like I said earlier, was absolutely perfect. Our dear 'junior postman' sounds more like one of Dad's supervisors, really, but that's all right, as it still fits. And the letter-sorting machine! PERFECT. Especially since word has it the real ones don't do very much good at all.
Quite a bit of this one was all about the little things, too. Seeing Octeday in action, for one thing. And Dr. Lawn was back! And Ridcully's bit about the fiery eye in the omniscope (Jill: ::DIES::)! And Vetinari's long-distance Thud game with Margo! (Well, okay, it doesn't say her as such, but it's close enough for me.)
In conclusion... 's brill.
