So, that was ten hours without power, courtesy of Ike remnants. NOT MY IDEA OF A GOOD TIME, ACTUALLY.
Still, it's back now (pretty much at the stroke of midnight), and I found a cool-sounding job before the power gave out that I think I have a good shot at. Hopefully, that's going to turn out well, and then I can get to where I'm going.

So last night's return of power was a false alarm. And this morning, there was no water either. The water sort of trickled back, and when Mom and I got back from getting bottled water (just in case) and lunch, the power was back!
Hopefully it'll stick around this time.
Nothing fell on the house or cars, there's maybe one roof shingle out of place (and there are another four layers up there anyway, thanks to OCD Lady who lived here before us) - we made out pretty good, comparatively. (Saw a lot of BIG trees uprooted, while we were out. Not many actually on houses, but still. Oh, and a power pole that got broken by the wind.)
This is reaffirming my desire to not live in hurricane territory, let's just say. And it's a pretty strong argument for underground power lines.
