...and cue a moment of severe DJing nostalgia. Why tonight rather than last night, I don't know, since the same song came up then... but there you have it.
Thanks ever so, iPod.

And now, a meme, just because:
If I hadn't met [livejournal.com profile] minkhollow, I...

(Also: I played this Friday because of the band name. Think the song I played on the air is the best overall, but it's decent music.)

*Finished last final half an hour ago.
*Did last radio show Friday night. I... am gonna miss that a lot.
*HEY SISTER. When's a good time for dinner on the 24th?
*My room is kind of a wreck - actually, it's fairly clean for me, but re: having to move out in two weeks it's bad. But hey, I have two weeks to clean it, right?
minkhollow: (we are the US government)
yesterday/this morning, in script format )
Am attempting to find motivation to work on my final piece for noveling, tag my lingering slowtime (note to self: back room post about that?) and generally do other stuff. I'm sure it'll come. Really don't want to go to work tonight, but hey, it's the second-last time I have to do this particular job.
Sorry I haven't been saying as much here as usual. I think keeping the paper record is absorbing a lot of what I would say.
(Also, the new Flogging Molly is pretty awesome.)

HEY FLIST. At least two of you ought to know this:
So that song that cropped up during Blue Rose all the time last spring. 'I am downright amazed at what I can destroy with just a hammer.'
What's it actually called, and who does it? (Album would be a further bonus, for possible radio play, but not necessary.)
minkhollow: Sputnik: In Soviet Russia, space races YOU! (space races you!)
Things from this weekend that are allowed to stay: Getting positive feedback during my radio show, earning money on Saturday, and the Good Omens audiobook (it sounds like it was read by a robot! Best audiobook EVER).
Things that are not: EVERYTHING ELSE OH MY GOD. And that's all the more I'm saying about it here.
My parents are not in fact insane, most of the time; it's just that sometimes we're insane at each other, and it takes a while to bounce back. (Still don't quite get Dad calling to basically say 'call your mother,' though.)
It's a good thing I haven't wanted to do anything but write my latest plot bunny all weekend, in a way; I'm up for the critiquing, which means I need ten pages by Friday. And there's the Crusading paper due Thursday, which... well. Now I have some notes for it? That I'm going to go try to turn into an intro, at least.
minkhollow: (not to be taken away)
I'm having one of those moments where I feel like I haven't been productive, academically speaking, even though I've probably written enough to finish off my assignment for the noveling class for Monday. (That will probably end up on [livejournal.com profile] mapsarecheating, once I have it all typed.) It's the fact that I'm not writing a paper or reading from textbooks, I think.
Speaking of writing journals... I feel like [livejournal.com profile] sto_helit_lace has long since outgrown its name. Especially now that I'm only writing Disc stuff occasionally. But I don't want to get a rename token without a good alternative in mind, so - suggestions?
listy time )
Also speaking of journals I write in, I think the paper!journal thing is serving me well.
minkhollow: (song of the viking)
So, radio schedule's out.
And it's enough to bring me to quote the title of the song at hand in my subject line, since I finally scored a safe-harbor slot. Fridays, 10 to midnight.
There will be webcasting, eventually (perhaps immediately), though I can say it'll support a whopping 50 listeners at once.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (then i'll market an elixir)
*China paper is at eleven thirteen-and-a-bit pages and counting.
*Internet in my room spontaneously died just before I left; since it's fine in Blanch, it's possibly in-dorm network issues. ETA: Is better now.
*I HAVE CONCERT TICKETS NOW. TODD RUNDGREN YAY.
CD reviews did not pan out, nor did the eating part.
minkhollow: Steven Banks: Elvis gotta write a speech now (elvis... gotta write a speech now)
I have just about ten pages of my China paper done. Stopping there for tonight, thanks, partly because I'm nearing the point where it won't do me much good and partly because I have two CDs yet to review. (Short reviews, yes, but still.)
I'm trying to write in my paper!journal more, in preparation for the [livejournal.com profile] embodiment thing. So far it's a semi-success.
Otherwise, today has been kind of full of DO NOT WANT. I'm blaming the weather (WHAT IS THIS 'WINTRY MIX' NONSENSE).
minkhollow: (terrified houseplants)
finals time is list time! )
Also: I am going to offer Hogswatch fics, since I feel like writing, don't know what to write, and won't have the time to make them Christmas presents. SO! Comment with a fandom (including original fic, to an extent, though this will likely mean Finch and Arden) and something prompt-shaped, and I'll try to deliver the goods before January.
(Also also, as was pointed out by [livejournal.com profile] trinora: You know what's hilarious? Club Guy cameoing in today's Dominic Deegan. I LOVE IT.)
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (run away!)
*Queer theory paper is at not-quite-four pages out of six a bit on the short side, but CONQUERED NONETHELESS. Why is it so hard to analyse the things you love?
*Due to a clerical error on my part, I have... more CD-reviewing ahead of me than I thought. But that's all right; it's not much, and if I can't pull it off this week I'll collect a few over J-term.
*Somewhat related: I'd figured it was only a matter of time before I got the original and cover of Let My Love Open the Door back to back, but I still wasn't expecting it. WTF, iPod. XD
*What's fun is when your friend's stress relief can also be your own. This? Is WAY TOO MUCH FUN.
*Also somewhat related: If the cause of the 'dear brain: just... no' post won't let up, I'll just talk things over with the appropriate Milliways people. Should be able to handle that, as less of my own headspace would have cause to care.
minkhollow: Robert Redford pointing, from Sneakers (sometimes i don't understand myself)
Methinks it's time for a new list.
and so, one shall happen. )
So yeah. Thanks to those who've weighed in on the grad school indecision so far; I'm thinking what might end up happening is I'll apply to my short list and see how I feel from there. (And my short list doesn't want answers until February, so it'll give me something to do over J-term! XD)
Also, I think I need to make a new Hogswatch sweatshirt. My current model was too big in the first place, but now it's just ridiculous. Something to attend to over break, I guess.
minkhollow: Steven Banks: Elvis gotta write a speech now (elvis... gotta write a speech now)
and now, a list, in hopes it'll help me focus )
Other than that... I disapprove of the Viking horde's timing, if only because I'll have to be on my feet for three hours tonight and my back's going to be made of Ow. But I'll survive.
minkhollow: Sputnik: In Soviet Russia, space races YOU! (space races you!)
Radioing: Where you find out your black Sharpie's been in the bottom of your CD bag THE WHOLE TIME. ::facepalms:: But at least I know where it is now.
Also, what do I walk into on my way out of Blanch but a Nano write-in. It's taunting me, I say! (Talked to the ML for a bit; she said I'm still welcome to drop by write-ins if time allows, even though I'm only half doing Nano this year. That might be worth keeping in mind.) In any case, in with my conglomerate word count, it's my goal to get the Neverwhere crossover finished by the end of next week.
Responsible Adulthood-shaped things continue apace, more or less.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (sunday in the sunset leaves)
*Light verse paper has been postponed to Wednesday. However, if I don't finish it like it's still due Monday, I'll be wigging out re: when can I do China work? (I'm making pretty good time, though; I've got about half of what I need.)
*Today I had invisible interns: I had two last week, but this week they didn't show up. ::shrugs:: I have also come to the conclusion that it's time for another station raid. (MATTHEW GOOD. BORN LOSERS. LISTEN TO IT ZOMG.)
*I don't want to go to work, nor do I want to bang the drum all day. (I also suspect I did not get paid for the pay period before last. Shall have to poke ze supervisor.)
*...I also seem to be committing parentheses abuse today. (I blame the weather, as it's dreary out. Or possibly just Mercury. XD)
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (spaceman spiff)
This is not my best week ever. If it doesn't turn around in a damn hurry, it's in danger of being fired.
a to-do list, in the hopes it'll help )
Not much else to say, other than... yeah. I kinda feel like I fail at life lately. Someone convince me that's just my brain talking?
And now, the leaving for the meeting.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (sunday in the sunset leaves)
Last night's cracktastic metaphor: Exactly why is it that people kick up such a fuss about the nuclear family? I mean, they might run cleaner than coal-powered families, but then you end up having meltdowns etc., and that's just not healthy for the neighbors.
It's about time America started looking into greener family constructions. (I nominate mine for wind power. We're full of hot air.)

On a somewhat more serious note, if any of y'all are in the vicinity of campus and interested in DJing, WMHC's having training Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. It's millionty fun!
