Front-half-of-the-alphabet Yuletide recs, this time!

Aaaaand that's all, unless and until I poke at Madness!

I was going to wait and do a 'two memes for the price of one!' deal, but I am occasionally impatient. (Those of you who know me in real life are likely going 'occasionally?' at this point. XD) So:
Comment with one of my fandoms, and I'll reply with:

01. The character I first fell in love with
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't
04. The character I love that everyone else hates
05. The character I used to love but don't any longer
06. The character I would shag anytime
07. The character I'd want to be like
08. The character I'd slap
09. A pairing that I love
10. A pairing that I despise
minkhollow: (destiny! destiny!)
Possibly I should not be allowed to think this late, but.
If I knew where a Potter party was nearby, to say nothing of the state of the overtime? I would totally gatecrash with a bucket of soapy lemon water.
"Someone said there was a wizard problem here? ...Oh. Sorry, wrong fandom."
(Alternately, if Harry and the Potters go to MHC again... XD)
minkhollow: Sputnik: In Soviet Russia, space races YOU! (space races you!)
As seen in a number of places:
Name a character from some fandom I know and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal headcanon.

New conclusion: If someone would just dump soapy lemon water on Voldemort, all would be solved. Or at least it would for long enough that people could work out a better plan.
(Meanwhile, I'm glad I have enough food for the weekend. ::eyes snow::)
minkhollow: (anthill inside)
Progress on the to-do list + a reminder of why I bother in the first place = I'm good, now.
I was not expecting to have such a literal use for this icon when I made it. Note to self: turn on FacMan homing signal.
minkhollow: (terrified houseplants)
And now, it's iconography time.
Get Your Geek On and Drag Ball pictures )
In other news, I'll be in Phillyish for part of spring break. ...And the drilling outside my room NEEDS TO STOP ARGH.
minkhollow: (leap of faith)
There are times when this game is made of win.
And then... and then there are time when I can't believe what I'm typing (the bit I'm boggling at's not till the third page, but it's there). I mean, the rest of the thread is also made of win, but... still.
::blames the lateness of the hour::

Tonight's phone theory:
Things from the Dungeon Dimensions + soapy lemon water = melted Things. (It's the principles at work, really. They're similar enough.)
This one may in fact come in handy at some point down the road.
Further bulletins as events warrant (i.e. tomorrow).

And oh look, Gainful Employment happened.
I'm not doing the *exact* same thing I was last year, but it's similar. And three-day weekends are worth ten-hour days, right? I can be an artificial morning person as long as I have caffeine, and at least it's not customer service.
And by the end of the summer, I'll have boatloads of money. XD
In other news, I love this game. Quite a lot.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (short attention span theatre)
Perhaps we should have gotten some drain cleaner on that grocery outing yesterday. Oh well; that's the sort of thing I only ever remember when I'm in the shower. In any case I have caffeine.
I should have movie by Friday. huzzah!
And now some links, for the amusement of the children:
*[livejournal.com profile] chaucerhathblog, which some of you have seen and others of you (mainly looking at Eleanor and Diana) should.
*Milliways stuff: A very long thread indeed (though it's not really a surprise this time), a bit of which sets up this conversation, in which there is winning.
minkhollow: (holy wood magic)
See this? (And a few of you might've, as I'm nicking the link from [livejournal.com profile] innerbrat.) This is where I squee.
::SQUEES::
This is also where I squee. And where I suspect that, between it and the resurging interest in the Titanic (not that that ever really went anywhere), my inner ten-year-old has come out to play. (Dry-erase board outside the room now says 'absolutely NO wizards, rescuers or salesmen.')
Okay, I suppose I should do something constructive now.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (smock)
A theory, brought to you by my rereading and the latest Milliways plot:

So, do you think the EFC wizard-liquifying trick would work on Riders of the Dark?
(I'm inclined to think it would just piss them off all the more, being drenched in soapy lemon water, but it's an amusing thought.)
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (real men wear skirts)
I think I'd forgotten just how much I love the Enchanted Forest Chronicles; started rereading the third book today. And they are such fun.
Also? I love Milliways. I really, really do. This is not a thread thing, it's just... love.
minkhollow: (holy wood magic)
Songset! (Well, verse-set, if you want to get technical. But still!)
Tonight went well too. Recommended some books (EFC, various mystery-ish Discworld, Neverwhere, Dirk Gently) and got some recommendations in turn. Will prolly look into that after the next couple Discworld books.
Went to the doctor this morning and got stuff for to make the hacking-up of lungs stop. Bottle says cotton candy flavored; it's not bad, as cough medicines go, but it doesn't taste like any cotton candy I've ever had. Also, it had been so long since I got a prescription that my name wasn't in the drug store's database anymore. I guess that's a good thing, on the whole. XD
Possible mass icon(ograph) changing on the RPage front later. (Oh, and Celestina, you did get the fic, right?)
minkhollow: (holy wood magic)
if my fandom tried to wash its hands, it wouldn't have hands for very long )
Gacked that music meme that's started around, but haven't filled it out yet. Anyway I think the one long cut in this post ought cover things. XD
Dug up the link per request: Everything I Needed to Know I Learned From RPing. Drop comments there if you want, but let me know if you do - I don't have 'em emailed to me.
Am very nearly done with Jingo. All I have to say right now is when that Dis-Organizer mixup catches up, it catches up with a VENGEANCE. One of the most sobering Pratchett moments ever.

Finished Equal Rites the other day (better than The Light Fantastic, but not by very much, if you ask me) and started on Lords and Ladies. Am far enough for Ponder to turn up, and I've got to say - his first line in there? Sparked necessity for a Discworld/EFC crossover. It's all about the geek speak. XD
And at the moment I've got a Harry Potter/Discworld crossover up in another window. It's truly brilliant. Scene changes are a little... abrupt, but if that's the only flaw I've found so far I must have hit a good one. Will post to [livejournal.com profile] foodless_diet once I've finished reading.
It looks like the parents and I are going to New Orleans over spring break. Coolness. (Even though catching up with the RPage afterward is gonna be bloody difficult. XD)
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (HP/GO - Aziraphale)
Turned out I left off in Witches Abroad last night with three pages or so left. Oh well. 'M done now. No new Discworld until I finish QB7 (wot I need to have read by the exam next Friday).
Speaking of exams, I think I get to stay home for the first day of them. Not taking science, probably exempt from religion, those're the only two that day (to my knowledge)... sounds good to me.
And the Discworld/Shrek plot bunny, aside from being up for adoption, has an optional expansion. If you want to be really insane it could go to Discworld/Shrek/Enchanted Forest Chronicles.
...Which occurred to me last night, while I was testing my memory on Killer's predicament. Don't know why I did so. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

blargh.

I should be... I dunno, mooching around the band's warm-up area or something about now. But I didn't feel good and didn't think trying to go to the competition would work out very well. And a few band members told me to go home and get better when I said I didn't feel well. I really hate missing competitions, but today is just not the day. ::shakes fist at gastrointestinal distress::
But! The EFC sort of dragons got mentioned in the RPage! In a very roundabout way, and it seems like things are finally calming down (halle-bloody-lujah!) so we don't really need that bit, it seems, but still. (I may not need that brilliant plan from last night either, for what it's worth.)
Character development... prolly going up tonight. Not sure which tense fits, at the moment. You know how it is. (Actually, the current here-Australia time zone difference works quite well for weekends. Just not the rest of the time.)
