minkhollow: (holy wood magic)
So this week has brought some unexpected pitfalls with it (among other things, we're not looking at an apartment tonight after all); square one for everyone! Drinks all around! (Also, things I did not miss about New England: HOUSE CENTIPEDES AND THEIR RELATIONS. ONE TRIED TO SET UP SHOP INSIDE MY RAZOR HANDLE.)
But we're having company tomorrow, and I'm still not freaking out. All will be well, and all that.
And now, #FicFriday:
OUaT, Warehouse 13, W13/Disc, OUaT/X-Men: First Class, W13/XMFC (both of those by way of panfandomsandbox), Greek mythos )
More as it develops!
minkhollow: Steven Banks: Elvis gotta write a speech now (elvis... gotta write a speech now)
I'm in Connecticut now! Connecticut is cool!
Meanwhile, a meme: Make up a title for a story I didn't write and I will respond with details of those non-written stories.

All that I ask is that you tell me the fandom. You're also welcome to give me multiple title-fandom combinations, which means either I get a choice, or you get more than one story premise. EVERYBODY WINS.
minkhollow: Sputnik: In Soviet Russia, space races YOU! (space races you!)
Hey, it's that AO3 hit-getters meme again. Let's see how the top ten's changed since last year.
in which holy shit where is that being spread around??? )
Otherwise, life continues apace. Things Are Afoot, not least of which is a resurgence of Plot With Rocks In over [community profile] milliways_bar way. (Because apparently I'm nuts, but also I miss it. XD)
minkhollow: W13: Claudia playing guitar (doesn't remind us of musetta's waltz)
Meme time!

1. Go to page 77 (or 7) of your current manuscript.
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written.
4. Encourage other people to do it!

The story I'm currently working on is my queer_fest fic, which is... nowhere near seven pages as of yet. So instead, you get a snippet of another work in progress:
a fairly nondescript bit of a W13 fic )
In other news: Of course Mercury's in retrograde now! No wonder it took like five tries to work out who was trying to start my grandparents' lawnmower (thanks for the follow-through, Dad...)! (Mostly throwing this is for gratuitous tag use. I don't get the chance much.)
Also, dear Once Upon a Time: Roger Daltrey did not guest star in sunday's episode. He had a cameo. It was a hilarious cameo, but that's all it was.
minkhollow: (whiskey tango foxtrot)
First, and apologies to those of you who've seen this twelve times by now:

For anyone who plays or used to play at [community profile] milliways_bar and hasn't been following the back room lately: Milliways is moving to Dreamwidth!

They're using the opportunity to free up many old and retired characters for play, as well as to preserve as much of Milliways' history on Dreamwidth as possible against the possibility of LJ going kersplut.

To decide what will happen to your character, help back up the game to Dreamwidth, and to see how you'll retain control over all your content, head on over here.

Second: Hey guys, I've been podficced! You Will Move Mountains got included in the latest Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology; podficcer's post is here (I'm the one at the bottom). It is fabulous and made me squee a lot.
...I feel like there was a third thing, but I've forgotten entirely. I may well go off and write something.
minkhollow: VBN, text-only: half of an assassin is just an ass (half of an assassin)
And now, some before-bed Milliways fic, which I'm putting here because I can. (Villains By Necessity/TF2; everything I know about TF2 I learned from Milliways; this would be a good stretch down the road in terms of Millicanon; horribly self-indulgent; warning: Scout doesn't know when to shut the hell up.)
in which Scout runs his mouth and Cata terrifies him appropriately )
minkhollow: (we are the US government)
And now that Yuletide is live, I'll share the stuff wot I wrote! As things worked out, I wrote three eras of the same fandom.

Madness: A Little Grace (Warehouse 13) for random_chick, a brief look at HG's pregnancy.

Assignment: To the Clicking of Time (Warehouse 13) for [livejournal.com profile] skitz_phenom, in which Claudia and Steve go to Oxford to solve a case.

Treat: Case Files, 1953-1962: A Selection (Warehouse 13) for Whisperslip, five cases Rebecca and Jack solved.

[livejournal.com profile] lionessvalenti correctly pegged one of these, which I think is the first time one of mine got guessed. Would you like a prize fic?

...and then it turns out [livejournal.com profile] lionessvalenti is the brilliant mind behind Moves Like Charlie's Angels, which also makes this the first time I know who my assigned writer is. :D Thank you!
Also thanks to [livejournal.com profile] estirose for the fabulous Villains By Necessity story and [livejournal.com profile] rosabelle for the super-special-bonus Rebecca/Jack (I started to suspect when it didn't turn up on your rec list)!

minkhollow: Help!: The Exciting Adventure of Paul on the Floor (paul on the floor)
Yuletide recs, part two (and the last), covering the second half of the alphabet and a couple Madness bits.
more fantasticness this way! )
minkhollow: W13: Claudia playing guitar (doesn't remind us of musetta's waltz)
In an effort to use this more, I'm putting my Yuletide recs here rather than [livejournal.com profile] foodless_diet this year. This is the first chunk; other than my gift fics I haven't really hit the back half of the alphabet yet. But onward!
my presents, once again, and some other fandoms )
In other news: Three out of three very satisfied recips. \o/
minkhollow: (happy hogswatch!)
OMG YOU GUYS HOW DID I END UP WITH THREE STORIES
STORIES. THREE OF THEM. )
If anyone wants to play the traditional guessing game: I wrote three things, but one of them's Madness so I don't think that's up yet. But if you want to guess, guess away! If you're right I'll write you something. (Comments are screened in the name of this little venture.)
minkhollow: VBN, text-only: I'm sorry if the nasty man woke up and wouldn't let you eat him. (snacktime etiquette)

Iiiiiiii am liking my Yuletide assignment! My recip's letter... is currently flocked, but between the request and what poking I could do, I think [idea] is going to be exactly the right thing to do.
FUNTIMES. I should dig out [thing].
minkhollow: (i do not type with my hands)
Signal-boosting: [livejournal.com profile] bethan_b_bad is running a crossover commentfic(/art/vid/whatever) meme. And it would be awesome if this took off, so!
minkhollow: (i do not type with my hands)
The 'top ten hit-getters on AO3' meme:
in which I'm expecting a lot of Yuletide-related things... but there's actually less of that than I thought )
Otherwise, things are thing-like. I think I'll be much more likely to enjoy the dogs when they're not peeing every five minutes.
minkhollow: (happy hogswatch!)
I'm not only sick but dealing with the Viking hordes (it can't ever just be one thing, can it?), but why let that stop me from squeeing about what I wrote for Yuletide, now that I can? 'cause I'm immensely proud of both stories this year.
said squeeing goes here )
And thank you to shopfront for Picture Perfect (or, the one that fills BOTH of my requests and does so brilliantly!).
minkhollow: (happy hogswatch!)
The first time I mentioned the 'guess my stories!' bit, I left off the ficbit-as-prize part. So, consider this a restatement: Guess what I wrote for Yuletide! If you're right I'll write you a ficbit!
I wrote two full-length stories this year. (Those of you who already know one or both are disqualified from guessing that one-or-both. XD)
In other news: I hate sinus infections, and I found The Sword in the Stone on DVD at Target last night.
minkhollow: view from below a copper birch at Mount Holyoke (don't mess with the claudiometer)
ONCE AGAIN MY YULETIDE PRESENT IS AWESOME (A slightly more composed rec: Picture Perfect, in which Claudia fixes things and Pete is seriously slow to catch up.)
And while I'm here, people are way welcome to guess what I wrote. Two stories, this year. Won't answer till New Year's, naturally, but.
